Without body language or voice, your words carry everything. Here's how to make sure they carry what you actually mean.

Be specific rather than vague.

'That conversation meant a lot to me' lands. 'Cool chat' lands nowhere. Specific words are how feelings survive text.

Use contrast to add texture.

'Honestly I'm a bit nervous but also really curious' gives a much richer picture than 'I'm fine.' Both-and is more real than either-or.

Read it back before sending.

One quick read before you send catches 80% of misreadings. Would a stranger understand this the way you mean it?

Clear expression is an act of care.

When you take time to say what you really mean, you're treating the other person as worth the effort. They'll feel it.
